John Deere Upper Doffer Adjustment
Housing and Sprockets Assembly
Cotton-picking machines are critical to cotton harvesting. Multiple parts go with the machinery and each component. The upper doffer adjustment housing and sprocket assembly is a section that may have parts needing replacement. The chart linked here shows available parts making up the assembly. Tolerances are important when manufacturing components that function together in an assembly. Components for the upper doffer adjustment housing and sprockets assembly are no different.
Aftermarket parts are compared closely to the OEM style, and they fit the same. The only difference is the name brands are not the same. Dealers push to sell aftermarket products because they know people will buy more if it is more affordable. The farmers find they are less stressed during the peak of the harvest season because they know there will be little to no delays when waiting for parts to come in.
It takes the correct alignment on the shaft of the doffer. An efficient harvest depends on this, along with proper maintenance. When the parts go into the shop for repair, you can expect the mechanic to have all the tools necessary to put together the doffer assembly and grind the doffer’s surface.
Grinding the surface allows for maximum use. The mechanics will also check the abrasiveness so that the cotton is stripped from the spindles when they flow by. All adjustments are made, and everything is double-checked. Knowing the parts that were there when needed is the most extraordinary relief.

The Parts of the Upper Doffer
Adjustment Housing and Sprockets Assembly
When breakdowns occur, Certi-Pik, USA keeps the shelves well stocked. Our attention is placed on replacing individual pieces needing replacement in this assembly rather than forcing the customer into buying the whole assembly. Due to some customer requests we have made available an assembly of the fine doffer adjustment parts that were introduced with the CP770 Cotton Picker. This will allow a faster method to have all the parts ready to drop into place by simply removing one bolt, pulling out the old assembly and tightening in the new. When the part is ordered, it can be in the farmer’s hands the next day.
When it comes to the parts for the Fine Doffer Adjustment, we have made several notable improvements: A primary area of concern was the bottom Retainer Clutch. It was made with a longer hex to fully engage the plate to prevent premature slipping. All Bushings, Clutches, and Gears that were previously supplied by OEM as powdered metal have been made of steel to increased durability. Increasing the wall thickness of the top tube spacer was also taken into consideration for an increased wear surface. The Previously Aluminum Hex Spacer Busing is also now made of steel which also increases strength. We strive to partner with our customers to find solutions to help improve your part in cotton harvesting.
Certi-Pik, USA is widely called upon by dealers. When issues cause breakdowns, the farmer goes to the dealer or supplier and can get full service. The dealer knows the farmer appreciates the stores selling the parts so they can get machines back up in full operation.
